The famous blue and white gingham “Dorothy” dress worn by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz sold for $480,000 on Saturday at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills. Worn by the “Over the Rainbow” singer in 1939, the dress was part of Julien’s Auctions’ Hollywood Icons & Idols show, an unprecedented Hollywood collection of over 800 items of screen memorabilia. The Wizard of Oz ruby red slippers worn by Judy Garland in 1939 stand on display at a private viewing at the Plaza Athenee in New York City on Monday.
