The first ever commemorative stamp was issued on Tuesday to honor the late openly gay politician Harvey Milk, on the 34th anniversary of his assassination. A leading public figure in the gay rights movement, Milk was elected as a San Francisco city supervisor in 1977, and was murdered on November 27, 1978, along with S.F. mayor George Moscone by fellow city supervisor Dan White. The 45 cent ungummed stamps (shown above) were issued in a sheet of 10. Sheets and single stamps are now available for purchase through the Panama City Private Local Post. (P.O.
